Confronting Bullies and Bullying

ikeepsafe.org ~ Confronting Bullies and Bullying

Bullying has become a large issue here in New Jersey, new policies are in place and lots of forms are no required to be filled out. If anyone so much as mentions the word bullied we are required to do something. You can longer look at it like someone having a bad day or two people just not getting a long. This article makes some good points about bullying, that's it's not universal and that a lot of bullies are such because of problems at home. I do like that it points out that not all aggression is bullying. My school treats almost every issue of aggression as bullying I think we are definitely going in the wrong direction with this.

  1. Michigan has a big bully awareness thing going on too. My district has went crazy and created a club called y-llub (notice its bully spelled backwards) to counteract and reverse the effects of bullying. I can agree with you that many of the steps taken have not went in the right directions or been well thought out. It almost seems like a scapegoat for all aggression, or even just an issue of mockery.

  2. Every school district around is dealing with the issue of bullying. We are implementing new programs, trying to make all students aware, and have multiple assemblies on bullying to try and curb the problem. However parents are becoming more and more involved and creating more issues than the students.
